The perfect keepsake, this small do-it-yourself initial needlepoint kit adds a special personalized touch to a nursery or child's room. The finished design is 8"x8" (20 cm x 20cm) and can be made into a mini-pillow or framed. The simple design is perfect for adult beginners (needlepointing is very easy and this design uses one simple stitch). Experienced needlepointers will love it too because it is so fun to stitch up and doesn't take forever! Stitched in durable 100% wool, this keepsake will last for many years and would make a great gift for a newborn baby. Letter can be upper-case or lower-case style.

1) “CANVAS & WOOL” option includes:

• Chosen initial and background dots hand painted onto interlock 12 count needlepoint canvas (design measures 8"x8") which makes stitching easy and accurate.

• Appleton tapestry wool - I supply generous amounts of Appleton 4 ply tapestry 100% wool in 5 shades to finish the design in tent stitch. Spun and dyed in Buckinghamshire, England, Appleton has been producing high quality wool for 180 years. I love the durability and the shades of Appleton, and, nothing beats the look and feel of 100% wool. Tapestry wool does not need to be split - you just thread and stitch, it covers the canvas perfectly and provides very even tension;

• Paper pattern: a colour 11"x17" colour symbol pattern is provided.

• Step-by-step photo instructions on how to needlepoint using the recommended stitches. These very detailed instructions will get a beginner up and stitching and include all the information you need to complete the design.

• Size 20 tapestry needle and threader.

2) “PILLOW KIT” option includes:

• ALL OF THE ABOVE, PLUS extra materials for you to finish into a pillow:

• Lilac colored fabric backing and matching piping (edging for pillow).

• 8" x 8" stuffed insert

• Detailed photo instructions on how to finish into a pillow with piping using hand-sewing (no sewing machine necessary).

• You even get a hand-sewing needle and thread! Everything you need in one package for you to finish the pillow as shown in photos.


The pillows shown in the images were completed using the tent stitch, one of the easiest needlepointing stitches out there. Of all the needlecrafts, I find needlepointing to be the most enjoyable and the least frustrating. It’s therapeutic, relaxing, super easy to master and electronics-free. I get a lot of thinking done while I needlepoint!
