This lucky sixpence coin charm is handmade using a genuine British sixpence in your choice of year, representing ‘something old’, with a silver plated lobster claw clasp as ‘something new’, an ivory rice pearl as ‘something borrowed’ (from the ocean) and lastly, a bead of lapis lazuli representing ‘something blue’. This bridal charm could be attached to the shoe of the bride on her wedding day to bring luck, as the old wives tale says a bride with a sixpence in her shoe will have a happy and long marriage. Alternatively, this charm could be easily attached to a more discreet place like a garter to ensure luck is kept close to the bride. This wedding charm is also suitable for a groom to wear on his buttonhole with a flower. Please choose if you would like a specially printed gift card explaining the traditional rhyme with your purchase. This can be seen in the photo gallery and is presented on linen finish card. Your coin will be dated 1953-1967 and this listing is priced based on a random date. All items are made by me in my studio in Stamford, England. Bespoke orders are very welcome. This charm is also available in sterling silver.
